Privacy Policy
What we collect when you call or contact JL Towing, and the choices you have about it. Written to be read, not skimmed past.
Effective date: August 14, 2026
JL Towing runs jltowingnearme.com and a free phone line that connects drivers with independent towing and roadside operators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the website and that phone line, why we collect it, and who sees it. We've kept the language plain on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected] and ask.
Information We Collect
Quote form details. The form on our contact page asks for your name, phone number, ZIP code, and the service you need. That's it. We don't ask for anything the dispatcher won't use.
Call data. The phone numbers published on this site are call tracking numbers. Each one forwards to our dispatch line and tells us which page generated the call. We also log the caller's number and the call's time and length. That's how a pay-per-call referral service measures which pages actually help people and settles up with its partners.
Call recordings. Calls may be recorded and monitored. We use recordings for quality checks, dispatcher training, resolving disagreements about what was quoted, and legal compliance. Where the law requires it, you'll hear a recording notice at the start of the call. If you'd rather not be recorded, say so, and the agent will handle your request without recording where we're able to.
Technical data. Like nearly every website, we automatically log IP addresses, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the page that referred you here. This arrives through cookies and standard server logs, covered in more detail below.
How We Use Your Information
- To route your request to one or more independent service providers near you. This is the entire point of the service.
- To pass a provider what they need to reach you: your phone number, location, and job details.
- To measure which pages and campaigns generate calls, and to bill the partners who pay us for referrals.
- To review call quality and train the people answering the line.
- To detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and meet legal obligations.
We don't run an email newsletter and we don't feed your details to data broker lists. The information you give us gets used to answer the request you made.
Who We Share It With
Independent service providers. When you ask for a tow or roadside help, we hand your request to a provider in your area so they can do the work. Providers are independent businesses with their own privacy practices, and once they have your information, their policies govern what they do with it.
Call tracking and analytics vendors. We use third-party platforms to route calls and store recordings, plus analytics tools that report on site traffic. They process data on our behalf under contracts that limit what they can do with it.
Legal and business situations. We may disclose information to comply with a subpoena or other lawful request, or to protect against fraud. Records may also transfer as part of a merger or sale of the business. If ownership changes, this policy travels with your data until a new one replaces it.
One honest note: under some state privacy laws, passing your contact details to a partner who pays us can count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You have the right to opt out of that, covered under Your Privacy Rights below.
Calls, Texts, and TCPA Consent
By submitting a form with your phone number, or by calling one of our numbers and requesting service, you consent to receive calls and text messages about your request from JL Towing and from the service partners who receive it. These may include autodialed or prerecorded calls and texts. Consent isn't a condition of buying anything; you can always reach a provider on your own instead. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier.
Stopping is simple. Reply STOP to any text, tell any caller to quit calling, or email us, and we'll honor it promptly.
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies here do three jobs. They keep the site working during your visit. They count traffic so we know which pages people find useful. And they handle attribution, meaning they record which ad or search result brought you in. Some pages swap in a different tracking phone number based on how you arrived. That's called dynamic number insertion, and it's standard practice in this industry.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work. The main side effect is that our numbers may not swap correctly, so your call still connects but our reporting gets fuzzier. We can live with that.
How Long We Keep It
Call recordings are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted. Call logs and form submissions are kept for up to three years, because partner billing questions and legal claims can surface well after the tow itself. Analytics data lives longer in aggregate form, but at that point it no longer identifies you. When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or strip out the identifying parts.
Your Privacy Rights
If you live in California, or in another state with a consumer privacy law (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and a growing list), you have rights over your personal information:
- Right to know. Ask what we've collected about you and get a copy of it.
- Right to delete. Ask us to erase it, subject to exceptions like records we're legally required to keep.
- Right to correct. Ask us to fix information that's wrong.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Tell us not to pass your details to partners in ways state law treats as a sale, and not to share them for targeted advertising.
To use any of these, email [email protected] with your request and the phone number or email you used with us, so we can verify it's really you. We respond within the window your state's law sets, generally 45 days. An authorized agent can submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization. And we won't charge you or cut off service for exercising your rights.
Children's Privacy
This service is for drivers and vehicle owners, not kids. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We'll update this page when our practices change, and the effective date at the top will change with it. A meaningful change gets a plain notice here rather than a silent edit. Continued use of the site or the phone line after a change means the updated policy applies to you.
